The 60-year-old Miss Universe Buenos Aires winner, Alejandra Rodríguez, is thrilled to be a representative of a “new model in beauty pageants.”
A sixty-year-old lawyer created history by becoming victorious in the Miss Universe Buenos Aires contest. To win the title, Alejandra Rodríguez faced 34 competitors ranging in age from 18 to 73.
Who is Alejandra Rodríguez exactly?
After graduating from college, La Plata-born lawyer and journalist Alejandra Rodríguez followed her passion for journalism, as reported by the New York Post. After completing her legal studies, she worked as a hospital’s legal counsellor. Her achievements have dispelled misconceptions and mark a dramatic shift in the beauty pageant industry.
Why is Alejandra Rodríguez’s success extraordinary?
According to The Independent, there used to be an age restriction on contestants for the Miss Universe pageant, with participants having to be between the ages of 18 and 28. Nonetheless, the Miss Universe Organisation declared in 2023 that there would be no upper age limit and that anybody above the age of 18 might compete beginning in 2024.
Alejandra Rodríguez’s reaction upon winning:
“I am excited to represent this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are beginning a new era where women are valued not only for their physical beauty but for a different set of values,” she stated to the media. “I am the first of this generation to embark on this journey,” she stated.
“I believe the judges noticed my confidence and my dedication to representing women of my generation,” she went on to say. She added, “I’m determined to compete for the Miss Universe Argentina 2024 title.”
What does Alejandra Rodríguez have in store?
She is preparing to compete in the forthcoming national Miss Universe Argentina competition, which will take place in May 2024, on behalf of Buenos Aires.
The New York Post reports that Rodriguez credits her lifestyle for maintaining her young beauty even at 60.
She told the outlet, “The key is to lead a healthy life, eat well, and stay physically active.” “Just normal care, nothing too extreme, and maybe a bit of good genetics,” she said.
