Close Friends’ can now livestream privately on Instagram thanks to a new feature
‘Close Friends on Live’ is a new feature on Instagram, owned by Meta, that lets users go live with up to three other people.
According to the firm, the new function is useful for arranging trips, exchanging memes, catching up with friends, and just hanging out with close friends. Instagram launched ‘Live Broadcasts’ in 2016, but they were open to the public, so anyone who followed you could participate and watch.
Since its release, celebrities, influencers, and content producers have found great success using the tool to interact with their followers. But typical users, who were worried about all their followers seeing their activities, didn’t find it appealing.
According to Meta, users who want to hold brief, targeted study sessions, have conversations without the fear of being judged by random followers, or share content in the style of influencers will find value in this new function.
Meta has been striving to improve Instagram’s privacy over the last few months. The business released a feature in November of last year that lets users limit who may see their grid posts to their closest friends. Instagram has added the ability to restrict interactions with your close friends.
