Renner underlined Google Cloud’s dedication to continuous investment in areas seeing rapid expansion
In addition to managing sales, services, partners, and customer success, Matt Renner, President of Google Cloud’s worldwide field organisation, pointed out that the company has significantly increased its global footprint by running 11 data centres in the Asia-Pacific area alone. Renner underlined how Google prioritises offering local assistance and leveraging AI to enhance user experiences.
During a recent roundtable, Matt Renner and Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country Managing Director of Google Cloud India, highlighted Google’s significant focus and investments in the Indian market, especially in startups and AI innovation. They portrayed India as a hub for global startups and a major market for adopting generative AI to enhance business value. The discussion centered on key opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, retail, and financial services.
Renner and Bedi emphasised Google’s open platform approach, competitive advantage in AI and ML capabilities, and support for digital native enterprises. They reiterated India’s importance for cloud and AI solutions as a consumer and creator economy. It is noteworthy that Google has been making significant national investments in engineering talent, customer engagement, and strategic alliances.
Renner responded that Google Cloud Platform (GCP) has grown significantly globally over the last six years and is currently operational in 200 countries when asked how Google Cloud customises its services to meet the unique requirements of different industries and customers in different regions. “This year, we announced expansions into Thailand and Malaysia, and we have two major hubs, comprising two Cloud data centres and six zones in India,” said Renner.
“Providing local coverage and support is essential for addressing industry-specific requirements,” Renner underlined in reference to particular initiatives aimed at improving customer satisfaction and engagement. Additionally, we recognise that a large number of our clients are international in nature, which is why we are growing both locally and organizationally to provide support.
According to Renner, Google Cloud is using AI and technology to increase customer satisfaction. In order to effectively resolve concerns, this technique entails swiftly addressing customer sentiment issues, granting quick access to information support teams, and guaranteeing clear communication. “We’re proud to offer the highest-performing cloud, which increases client happiness. The economic strength and prospects this region offers, which benefit both our clients and our business, are the driving forces behind our ongoing investments, particularly in the APAC region,” he said.

Moreover, we are witnessing significant trends regarding generative AI. The market widely recognizes our advancement with our open and integrated AI stack. Enterprises, digital native companies, and startups are eager to utilize AI not only to enhance processes but also for business transformation, customer experience, internal productivity, and integrating AI into their products and operations. There is a substantial discussion occurring in the entire generative AI realm,” Bedi commented.
Bedi highlighted that security is a key topic of rising interest. He clarified that there has been an increase in security events due to the expanding digital footprint and increasing movement of assets online. “Users are excited to work with Google Cloud to use our products, such as Mandiant and Chronicle, to safeguard their infrastructure. Customers seek these conversations with us since Google was a pioneer in zero-trust architectures,” he said. Data, according to Bedi, is the third important issue since clients understand that their data strategy is the fundamental building element.
