Google has announced the removal of certain underused features as part of its efforts to enhance the overall user experience. In a blog post, Google stated, “We continue to make Google Assistant more helpful, prioritizing the experiences you love and investing in the underlying technology to make them even better. Using your voice to play and manage audiobooks on Google Play Books is no longer supported. However, you can still cast audiobooks from your mobile device.
Additionally, setting or utilizing media alarms, music alarms, or radio alarms on Google Assistant-enabled devices has been discontinued. You can either create a custom Routine with similar behavior or resort to using a standard alarm.
Accessing or overseeing your cookbook, transferring recipes between devices, playing instructional recipe videos, or displaying step-by-step recipes is no longer supported. However, you can utilize Google Assistant to search for recipes across the web and on YouTube.
Controlling a stopwatch on Smart Displays and Speakers has been discontinued. Nevertheless, you can still set timers and alarms.
Making a voice call to a device or broadcasting a message to your Google Family Group using your voice is no longer available. You can, however, still broadcast messages to devices within your home.
Sending an email, video, or audio message using your voice is no longer supported. However, you can still make calls and send text messages.
Rescheduling an event in Google Calendar with your voice is no longer available. Nevertheless, you can still schedule a new event.
Utilizing App Launcher in Google Assistant driving mode on Google Maps to read and send messages, make calls, and control media has been discontinued. You can, however, still use voice control on Google Maps in the same manner.
Requesting to schedule or listen to previously scheduled Family Bell announcements is no longer possible. However, you can create a custom Routine that replicates similar behavior.
Asking to meditate with Calm is no longer supported. Nevertheless, you can still inquire about meditation options with media providers like YouTube.
Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 devices will no longer support voice control for activities. You must use the buttons on your device to initiate, stop, pause, and resume activities. However, voice control for activities remains available on Pixel Watches.
