A new hands-on video has surfaced online showing the upcoming Google Pixel 9 Pro XL placed side by side with the current Google Pixel 8 Pro, giving fans a closer look at the design changes expected in Google’s next flagship smartphone.
The video, published by the PixoPhone channel, compares both devices ahead of Google’s official announcement event scheduled for August 13.
Similar Size but New Design
At first glance, the Pixel 9 Pro XL appears to have a similar size and matte rear finish as the Pixel 8 Pro. However, several noticeable design changes set the new model apart.
One of the biggest differences is the flat frame design. While the Pixel 8 Pro features curved edges, the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro XL adopts flat sides, which may improve grip and make the device more comfortable to hold.
Redesigned Camera Module
The rear camera setup still includes multiple sensors arranged in a familiar order, but the design of the camera bar has been updated. Instead of stretching from one edge of the phone to the other like the Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL uses a new oval-shaped camera island.
This change gives the device a slightly different look while still keeping the signature Pixel camera style.
Rounded Corners and Improved Ergonomics
The leaked video also shows that the Pixel 9 Pro XL features more rounded corners, which could make the phone feel smoother in the hand. Combined with the flat edges, this design might reduce the sharp pressure points that some users experienced with previous models.
Interestingly, the video also shows another device on the table believed to be the Google Pixel 9, which had previously appeared in earlier leaks from the same channel.
Launch Expected in August
Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 9 lineup on August 13, and the series will likely include several models, including the standard Pixel 9 and the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL with advanced camera features.
More details about specifications, pricing, and availability are expected to be revealed during the official launch event.
