Global celebrity Jackie Chan addressed worries about recent pictures of him looking older than his actual age on social media in a rare personal post.
Global legend Jackie Chan addressed concerns over recent images that appeared to make him appear much older than his age on social media on April 7, the day of his 70th birthday, by posting a rare personal remark.
A month or two ago, pictures of Jackie Chan at an event in China with facial hair and grey hair became viral on social media. His health became a concern after seeing these pictures.
“Jackie, it’s going to be your 70th birthday!” many friends have been reminding me even before today, the Rush Hour star writes in the beginning of the piece. I get a little shiver every time I hear this number—I’m already seventy years old?”
Sammo Hung, his older brother, was reported by Chan as saying, “Being able to grow old is a fortunate thing.” Chan went on, “We don’t realise how fortunate we are to be able to age, especially for us stunt people.”
Action star Hung from Hong Kong backed Chan when some online users took issue with his appearance
“Who among us is not older? As we age, it’s crucial to maintain our health,” Hung said last month at an honours programme organised by the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild, according to The Star.
“Why are these people criticising him? They act as though they are resistant to ageing,” he continued.
Reassuring his fans that he is in good health, Chan said that his elderly appearance was only for a part in the upcoming American martial arts film Karate Kid.
He said, “The role calls for me to have white hair, a white beard, and to appear old,” expressing his readiness to take on new difficulties for a motion picture.
“Whether it’s a demanding stunt or a transformative appearance for a character,” he said.
Chan thanked the company for the chance to keep filming after 62 years in the entertainment business. He reminisced, sharing special pictures, saying, “Looking at these photos brings back so many fond memories.” I adore making films and I love you all, that’s all I have to say.”
“A big thank you to everyone for all your birthday wishes,” he said in closing, acknowledging the good wishes of his admirers and followers. I hope that everyone remains content and well.
In the meantime, American actor Will Smith wished Chan a happy 70th birthday on Instagram. In the martial arts movie The Karate Kid (2010), Smith’s son Jaden Smith acted with the well-known Hong Kong actor.
“Our entire family was forever changed by our time spent with you in Beijing during The Karate Kid. He shared some lovely moments they had spent with Chan throughout the film’s production. “We wish you the deepest love and revelation on your next trip around the sun,” he added.
