Battery packs represent a promising area for Apple’s further exploration
A recent report suggests that Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 15 could incorporate a novel stacked battery design, commonly found in electric vehicles. It is speculated that the upcoming iPhone models, slated for a September release, may adopt a configuration where their battery components are stacked vertically on top of one another. This design could potentially result in a more compact packaging of battery components, potentially offering increased energy density for the new iPhone models.
Previously, ITHome had hinted at the possibility of these upcoming iPhones offering up to a 15 percent improvement in battery life. Numerous specialists believe that battery technology represents a promising avenue for Apple to further innovate and explore.
While cameras and display screens have shown continuous improvement over the years, battery life enhancements across various models have remained modest.
The progress in the current iPhone 14 battery life does not match the significant improvements seen in the previous iPhone 13 model. The leaker did note, however, that the new battery technology design for the iPhone 15 is still in a ‘limited’ phase, suggesting that it may not be fully integrated when the handsets are released to the public.
Numerous speculations have emerged regarding potential design enhancements for the iPhone 15. Some sources suggest that the upcoming iPhone may make the switch from the Lightning port to USB-C for the first time, while others propose the replacement of mechanical volume and power buttons with solid-state alternatives.
There are also rumors indicating that the iPhone 15 could incorporate a new chip to support Apple’s forthcoming Vision Pro VR headset, enabling the phone to seamlessly integrate into a more competitive ecosystem, as noted by the leaker Ming-Chi Kuo.
In addition to this recent rumor, Apple unveiled a slew of other features for its forthcoming iPhone during its Worldwide Developer’s Conference last month. These upgrades encompass various new tools, such as a journaling feature, AirDrop updates, live transcription for voicemail, and a new standby mode that transforms the iPhone into a smart display.
