The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which will power the next Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, will provide new Galaxy AI features
Samsung is set to unveil its most recent foldable phones at the coming Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10. The event will also feature new wireless earphones and smartwatches. But just before the launch, the full specs for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 were revealed by an honest tipster with a solid track record.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an evolutionary advance over its predecessor, according to Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks on X, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will include improvements to its primary camera and a slightly larger battery.
According to reports, both phones have IP48 dust and water resistance—a first for Samsung’s foldable phone series.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm’s flagship processor for 2024, is anticipated to power the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which will weigh 14 grammes less than its predecessor. Samsung may decide to expand the size of the outer display from 6.2 inches to 6.3 inches while keeping the interior display at 7.6 inches. Additionally, it looks that the manufacturer increased the maximum brightness from 1,750 to 2,600 nits.
The tipster said that Samsung has made the Galaxy Z Fold 6 somewhat narrower, shorter, and thicker than the model it replaced, with a marginal millimetre rise in breadth. It is also anticipated that the phone will have a “better Armour Aluminium frame.” The battery capacity and camera configuration, however, probably won’t change.
To summarise, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has three cameras on its back: a 12MP ultrawide sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens with an optical zoom of three times, and a 50MP primary camera.
Here’s a quick rundown: With a 50MP primary camera, a 10MP telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has three cameras on its back.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 might be the perfect foldable for you if you like clamshell designs. Significant hardware improvements are also being made to this flip phone in addition to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will reportedly include a larger 4,000mAh battery (up from 3,700mAh) and a 50MP primary camera (up from the Z Flip 5’s 12MP sensor), according to Blass. It looks that Samsung increased the RAM from 8GB to 12GB, but the secondary display will now use an IPS panel rather than an OLED one. To further enhance customer choice, the phone will now have fully customisable colour options for the back panel.
AI features like Note Assist, which enables transcription of recordings and note summary, are reportedly coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The S Pen will also work with Google’s Circle to Search feature.
The Galaxy Fold 6, Galaxy Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3, and Galaxy Watch 7 series are now available for pre-order from Samsung. On Samsung India’s official website, samsung.com/in/unpacked/, interested buyers may reserve these forthcoming Galaxy products for Rs 1,999. Benefits of Rs 7,000, the chance to buy limited editions, and the chance to trade in outdated technology for an update are all included in pre-reservation offers.
