Samsung launches Galaxy M55 in Brazil, featuring Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, with 4 years OS and 5 years security updates
Samsung expands its Galaxy M series with the Galaxy M55 in Brazil. This mid-tier phone boasts a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC and a leading 50 MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole display.
The Samsung Galaxy M55 features a spacious 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, capable of reaching 1,000 nits brightness. It includes an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. With the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, the device offers up to 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage, and supports memory expansion up to 1 TB.
Similar to the Galaxy A55 (review), the Galaxy M55 sports a plastic frame and back panel.
The phone’s rear setup includes a 50 MP primary sensor (f/1.8), an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The primary camera captures up to 4K videos, while the selfie and ultra-wide lenses are capped at 1080p. Camera features include Nightography and an object eraser.
The device is fueled by a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging, marking it as the fastest-charging Galaxy M series phone. Despite its sizeable battery, it weighs just 180 grams, lighter than the recently unveiled Galaxy A55. It comes pre-installed with Android 14-based OneUI 6.1. However, unlike flagship models, it lacks generative AI features. The Galaxy M55 will receive four years of software updates and five years of security updates.
The Samsung Galaxy M55, offering 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, is priced at BRL 2,699, roughly equivalent to Rs 45,086. It comes in light green and dark blue colors. The device is currently listed on Samsung India’s official website and is anticipated to launch in the coming weeks, potentially at a lower price point.
