Samsung has released One UI 6.0 for Galaxy S23 series users, moving from the Android 14 beta program. The update introduces several changes, including a new One UI typeface and name changes for various first-party apps. Among these, the Samsung Game Launcher has been renamed to “Gaming Hub” on devices running the One UI 6.0 update.
The company clarifies: “Commencing with Android OS version 14, the service will be referred to as Gaming Hub, and prior OS versions will receive updates gradually. It’s worth noting that in specific menus, ‘Game Launcher’ and ‘Gaming Hub’ may be used interchangeably on certain OS versions.
Samsung might have alternative intentions for the application
Users should avoid conflating the mobile app with Samsung’s cloud-based gaming platform, which is accessible on specific smart TVs and The Freestyle 2nd edition portable projector. This television platform is accessible in specific regions and facilitates game synchronization.
At present, the Gaming Hub mobile app serves solely as a game launcher and lacks any titles or cloud gaming capabilities. Nonetheless, it is crucial to acknowledge that Samsung may be contemplating expanding the Gaming Hub’s functionality beyond a mere launcher app. As indicated in a report by Sammobile, the company has expressed its intentions to introduce “various features gradually over time” to the mobile app.
Gaming Hub aspires to evolve into a gaming platform that not only organizes your installed games automatically and offers numerous convenient features but also delivers a more diverse gaming experience, as stated by the company.
The report underscores that Samsung did not delve into specifics regarding the games that will be integrated into the app or whether it will incorporate cloud gaming capabilities. It’s worth noting that the Gaming Hub app in One UI 6.0 has undergone no other alterations and retains a similar appearance to its previous version.
