It’s an essential purchase for anyone searching for an affordable multi-device charger with three ports, GaN technology, and fast charging capabilities
Our tech-driven society has made fast charging important. The days of leaving our phones plugged in all night in the hopes of having a fully charged phone by morning are long gone. Even though some expensive phones are still behind the times and may not even have chargers, phones that take longer than an hour to charge are no longer considered to be functional. Not only can smartphones now charge extremely quickly, but tablets and notebooks can also charge much more quickly than in the past.
There is a catch, though: fast charging requires fast chargers that are compatible. Even though many fast-charging devices come with their own chargers, this usually means packing many large charges in your backpack. The majority of fast chargers are sizable and heavy—some are almost as big or heavy as the phones they are meant to charge. Fortunately, third-party chargers are now widely accessible, allowing for the simultaneous charging of several devices in addition to fast device charging.Unfortunately, these chargers are frequently expensive; even the reasonably priced Amazon Basics 65W multi-port charger costs over Rs 2,000. The good news is that one of them has dropped in price, which is why we’re highlighting it here.
A clever, small charger that is now half the price it was originally?
We’re talking about the CMF Power 65W, one of the first items from Nothing’s more reasonably priced sub-brand, CMF, which made its debut late last year. The official pricing of the CMF Power 65W remains at Rs 2,999, which was its initial cost. Nevertheless, certain versions are now selling for Rs 1,499 on Amazon, which is almost half of what it cost when it was first released. We thought the CMF Power 65W was a great charger, even for Rs 2,999. With a price tag of just Rs 1,499, it quickly rises to the top of the list of third-party fast chargers that provide excellent value.
The small design of the CMF Power 65W makes it stand out among fast chargers; at 56.6 mm in length and 55 mm in width, it is almost square in shape and has a comparatively thin profile of 30 mm (for a charger). Because it weighs only 150 grammes, it is very easy to carry in a jacket pocket or a backpack. It is made of sturdy polycarbonate and has three ports: one standard USB-A and two USB Type-C.The charger has a two-pin connector with rounded, smoothly-fitting metal pins, and because of its small size, it fits snugly into most power outlets without toppling over, which is a problem that some chargers have. The charger is available from CMF in two colours: a bold orange and a regular black. Right now, there’s a discount on the black version.
Available on all three connections for rapid charging
While the strong and compact design is advantageous, the performance of the CMF Power 65 is what really sets it apart at this price range. The charger is compatible with almost all smartphones because it supports the major charging protocols, including PD3.0, QC4.0+/3.0/2.0, SCP, FCP, PPS, AFC, Samsung 9V2A, DCP, and Apple 2.4A. It uses Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology for fast charging. Its three connectors may all give amazing charging capacities: the two USB Type-C ports have a maximum output of 65W apiece, while the Type-A port can handle up to 36W of power. The rates are still remarkable even when charging multiple devices at once; for example, if you charge two devices simultaneously using the Type-C ports, one would charge at 45W, which is sufficient for most smartphones and many notebooks, and the other at 20W, which is almost the maximum for an iPhone.
When two Type-A and Type-C ports are used simultaneously, the Type-A will offer 45W of power, and the Type-C will quickly provide 45W of power. When three devices are being charged at once, the charging speeds are slightly decreased. One Type-C port charges at 45W while the other two charge at 7.5W each when all ports are connected. Crucially, at least one device will get fast charging whether two or three are being charged.
An good charger with a very reasonable cost
These are not just numbers. In approximately 30 minutes, the CMF Power 65 charged our iPhone 15 to roughly 65-70% capacity, while it took slightly more than two hours to fully charge a MacBook Air. It also readily charged our smartwatches and OnePlus Buds Pro. Although the charger may warm up a little, it never reaches uncomfortable temperatures and is equipped with a number of safety mechanisms to guard against short circuits, overheating, and excessive current.
All of this is available in a very small form factor. Although having a charging speed indicator and a few wires included would have been good, they are little complaints. The CMF Power 65, which costs Rs 1499, is without a doubt the best option for a multi-device rapid charger! At Rs 2,999, it was already a terrific price, but now that it’s 50% off, anyone searching for quick and effective charging can’t refuse.
