YouTube Premium subscription provides various benefits, including access to experimental features. This allows select users to test upcoming features without the need to enroll in a beta program. Premium subscribers now enjoy the additional perk of experimenting with AI features expected to be integrated into the platform in the future.
YouTube has revealed a global count of 80 million Premium members and trial users. In the United States, users now have the opportunity to experiment with two AI-powered features. Upon verification by TOI Tech-Gadgets Now team members with YouTube Premium subscriptions, one of the two features was accessible for testing in India on both Android and iPhones.
YouTube’s new AI experiments
Premium members can visit youtube.com/new to verify if they have access to the feature. YouTube is presently offering early access to two new AI experiments, including their inaugural conversational AI tool.
Conversational AI: A select group of YouTube Premium members can now experiment with conversational AI tools designed to enhance the viewing experience. Users can access the tool by tapping “Ask” below specific videos, allowing them to pose questions about the content or choose from suggested prompts. Described by the company as a tool that answers questions and suggests related content without disrupting playback, this feature is presently limited to English language users in the US with YouTube Premium memberships on Android devices. Interested individuals can sign up for one of the limited spots.
AI-Summarized Comment Topics: Another feature, accessible in India as well, involves experimenting with AI to organize extensive comment sections in long-form videos into coherent themes. This allows users to comprehend and engage in comment conversations more effectively.
According to YouTube, creators can utilize these comment summaries to swiftly join discussions on their videos or derive inspiration for new content from the topics their audiences are discussing.
Testing for this feature is open until December 5 and is exclusive to English videos. It’s important to note that this feature won’t be accessible on every video. To utilize this feature on the YouTube Android and iOS apps, navigate to the comment section and sort by topics.
